Benchling has been a fantastic place to work, especially within the SDR team. The culture here truly celebrates individuality, which has been one of my favorite aspects of the job. The SDR leadership has been in place for over five years, and that stability has created a unique environment where you can really be yourself and work in your own way. Even as Benchling has grown from a startup to a major player in the industry, the SDR team has maintained this supportive and personal atmosphere. I’ve noticed that other SDR leaders often seek out candidates from Benchling—perhaps because they recognize the value in the way our team operates. It’s clear that the consistency in our leadership has made a big impact, and that’s something that sets us apart. Overall, my experience at Benchling has been incredibly positive. In contrast, the broader business environment is quite challenging right now. We seem to be approaching what might be described as an economic crisis, impacting sectors like biotech, pharma, and banking. This has led to increased demands on workers across the board. I wouldn’t necessarily blame Benchling for this—it's part of a larger market trend. However, as an employee, it’s hard not to feel the pressure and notice the changes around you. In these times, it’s important to distinguish between personal feelings and the broader economic realities. It’s okay to share a coffee and talk things through with a coworker, but try to remember that no one is to blame.
