Pros
Flexibility, they'll let you work from home and be somewhat flexible on your hours. BackOps is a modern company that is always on the edge of new technology. They also bring lunch into the office for those on site which is a great perk. They try to boost culture with activities such as wearing costumes, hats, etc. It's silly, but what else do you do to promote culture when you have a primarily remote workforce?
Kontras
BackOps knowingly underpays their employees because they offer "intangible benefits". What this translates to is taking advantage of vulnerable women who are having a hard time reentering the workforce. BackOps operates under the guise of a mission driven company that cares about women's empowerment when the bottom line is that the brilliant execs found a way to source qualified women who want work life balance and using them as cheap labor. Don't expect loyalty or warmth in reality, even though the interview process feels completely opposite. They prefer not to hire men because men ask for more money and won't continue to stay underpaid. (Not an assumption, I was told this by leadership). They also systematically weed out older individuals based on "knowledge of technology". There is no structure at BackOps, they often don't know what they're doing. Yes, it's a startup but this goes beyond the general hit and miss of startup life. They don't even have an employee handbook. If something goes wrong they're quick to throw you under the bus, it's a small company where the leaders won't accept responsibility. It's a schizophrenic environment in that they can't decide if they want to be a service based organization or a software company.
