Great colleagues, interesting work, a great organisation, good work-life balance. The BBC still brings in very strong audience figures despite the financial difficulties but audience figures and revenue aren't tied together. The work is very interesting, you work with very smart people who are experts in their field no matter what they do. It helps make the company run seamlessly.

- The BBC is going through a structural upheaval creating a lot of uncertainty, it's a painful time for the staff and the organisation. - Lack of upwards trajectory but easy to move sideways if you can bag the job, that might also be someones promotion! You have to apply for promotion which also is a job that is extended to market. It's a terrible system, makes promotion hard to come back, not often and very competitive. It doesn't work for anyone as it makes it hard to bring new, fresh talent in when the role is also a promotion opportunity for many BBC staff, inevitable it favours staff. This creates a double edged sword where not much new senior talent comes into the BBC with new ideas and there are far few promotion opportunities for experienced staff in the BBC. - People are only being hired on fixed term contracts. - 2000 people about to be made redundant and expect this to only be the start as a new director general comes in from Google. - Things move slow as is usually the case in institutions.
