Pros
I worked at Applegate for 3 years, progressing from apprentice to manager.
You will never work with a better team of people.
The company has changed so much over the last three years, with new ownership, new direction, new energy and ultimately a really nice new culture.
Company is often in the news, receiving grants or at high profile events.
This business really is viewed as a leading Devon business, a market-leader, an apprenticeship leader and an all round great place to work.
The leadership team has changed over the last few years - they genuinely care about the staff, and the staff are more like a family.
Great investment in systems and personal development.
Only leaving due to a change in circumstances - it's a great place to live and work.
Bluntly, of the many people Applegate employ, the few to leave negative reviews here are likely to be those who weren't up for the job.
Kontras
Salary is probably slightly low for the area, but this is made up for by the pros!
Would be nice to see some more modern working practices and schemes (remote working, IT use, sick pay, mental health days, recognition schemes) but I know they're looking into these things.
Office location limits opportunities for growth.
Feeling of a lack of experience due to high number of apprentices, but again, this has been noted by the leadership and is changing.
