Pros
You don't really have to do much, easy to coast
Kontras
They did a Gartner study to check how much they were underpaying their data scientists. It came out to about a range of 30k per year below market. They adjusted everybody so they were at the 25th percentile of the market, yikes, and update the numbers every year on the pay update slip so that you can see how much under market you are. They give numbers for 25th and 75th percentiles. Literally doing this stuff with their faces showing. SMH. There are, throughout the company, departments that think they can do data science when in fact they are software developers totally incompetent to do data science. You will fight to even get your models used for anything. The politics is disastrous. Most people quit pretty quickly unless they like the laid back environment and are comfortable coasting. Huge turnover. Most people that stay are junior just waiting to get some experience. Everyone leaves to go to Amazon or Microsoft where the pay is reasonable and actual tasks are accomplished on a regular basis.
