Pros
Some of the direct bosses I reported to during my tenure here were cool. Coworkers within the PE/TE department were also cool. Some other employees outside the production group weren't bad to work with either.
Kontras
Let's see... Groups are terrible at collaboration here, heavily silo'd. Groups that are earlier in the development cycle will get a pat on the back regardless of delays they might cause. Becauese hey, plenty of time before release, right? But then by the time it gets to the production/test side, we are given insanely tight timeliness to make up for it and are blamed if things don't go smoothly. Pay is not great and the raises are almost insultingly small unless you get a promotion (get ready to have people play favorites on this). There are a few toxic people here that will throw you under the bus during meetings to make themselves look better if they can. Get everything in writing. Stand up for yourself, no one else will here. Even if they act like they will, they won't. Don't let them gaslight and scapegoat you. Hard work doesn't really get you more than the occasional lip service unless you "click" with upper management. People play favorites. Goalposts get moved. Weekends, late nights to meet deadlines won't get you jack here. I sacrificed my sleep scuedule and took a chunk out of my mental health for nothing 🙃 Upper management really doesn't like listening to engineers. Every time they promise to improve a process to make our lives easier they seem to forget about it completely within a couple months. Benefits seem to keep getting worse. During the post-covid employee shortage, they begrudgingly added some decent benefits like vacation rollover, only to snatch those away as soon as conditions favored them again and in addition made vacation accrue from zero at the beginning of every year (awful). A few years in they tore down our cubicles on the 2nd and 3rd floor and turned them into these awful, cramped pig pen cubicles that suck for focus. Makes you feel more like cattle than employees. The rating on this site seems way too high. At least in my department, I'm by far not the only one who had these complaints. Another review likened working here to being the dog in that "this is fine!" Meme. That is perfect 🤣 Overall I'm glad I left and found some place infinitely better. I cannot believe I waited as long as I did. So many wasted years on what was dead end for me and made me miserable and depressed. Find somewhere else to work, allegro is not worth your time.
