Management is great, So understanding to the point that you're not even tempted to screw anybody over on scheduling. There is definitely a mutual respect within the culture. I'm in the float pool and really enjoy going somewhere different everyday. This is my first job in the hospital and the experience that I've gained in less than a year in this position has been invaluable. My advice is that you come in do your job, then go home.. then do it all over again. Being in the float pool is attractive because you're not committed to one area of the hospital and if you don't favor a unit due to it not being the type of unit you enjoy, or the atmosphere of the staff that are assigned to the floor.. it's okay because you won't have to go back until who knows when *shrugs shoulders*

Being in the float pool there is not much of a community - you don't see the manager often and are usually unaware of who the other floats are that are in the same position as you. Not everybody's cup of tea but I personally appreciate the non-committal environment and people that being in the float pool offers.
Now.. the pay could be better - but there's endless opportunities for overtime and bonuses that are offered when they are short staffed. I'm also considered entry level for the healthcare field which is another thing affecting my pay rate, but when I pick up overtime + bonuses? It makes up for it, when I have the time or availability at least..
