Pros

You will get great work experience that will advance your career once you leave.

Kontras

Unless you have ties to the church, don't bother trying to have any management or upper management position. Moral seems to be at an all-time low across the board. It’s hard watching unqualified individuals get huge pay bumps and quick advancements because they or their family is affiliated with the Adventist Church. There is a HUGE disconnect between the corporate office and the sites. Pay is below average for most workers. You will have carrot dangled in front of you for years. After meeting or beating every expectation, you are given excuses about how your raise or desired position is not in the budget. Meanwhile, management is getting HUGE pay bumps and bonuses. Pros

I really enjoyed working with the St. Helena team and supporting management. The staff at the hospital is incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely supportive. Because of the size of the Hospital and the close‑knit community, the environment often feels like family. It’s a collaborative, community‑centered staff where coworkers look out for one another, and that made coming to work enjoyable.

Kontras

Having the right management structure can be challenging for any organization, and this was the primary difficulty I experienced. Because the management team was geographically spread out and not local, communication often felt disjointed. As a result, I didn’t feel fully engaged or supported in the way I believe a more unified, accessible leadership team could have provided.
