Pros

I have been with the company for about a year, and love it! At a time when many companies are chopping benefits or even closing their doors, API Healthcare continues to experience amazing growth and offers great benefits (paid time off for your birthday, 401k match, company events, etc.). Plus, I get to have a very flexible work schedule. API Healthcare offers career growth opportunities for those willing to seize them. Even with its fast expansion, the Hartford office still retains a small-town family feel, filled with genuinely wonderful people. The President & CEO sets a phenomenal tone of transparency, strong ethics, and a vision for success. If you're looking for a 9 - 5 job simply to gather a paycheck, then API Healthcare is quite frankly not the place for you. However, I've found that API Healthcare offers great growth opportunity and the ability to be a part of something greater than yourself.

Kontras

Working in a small town can provide a challenge if you're looking to get some errands done during your lunch. However, the on-site cafeteria is very good and makes up for the limited restaurant choices. The company is experiencing natural growing pains. You can't be afraid to roll up your sleeves, work hard, and challenge yourself.

Pros

API is a fast growing company in a promising market. What started out many years ago as a small, close-knit community business is rapidly growing into a large software company. For employees that remember the good old days, this is probably disconcerting. For those that are newer, it's just a great chance to catch a company on the upswing. Senior leadership is definitely committed to increasing sales - that's how a company grows. But they are also refreshingly open to change and suggestions on how to do better. The CEO is open and accessible, as is the rest of the leadership team. The company has invested heavily in agile development (scrum), and is very committed to making it successful. There are the firefighting challenges that all software companies deal with, but when the fires are put out, the process and expectations seem quite reasonable. Overall, it's a good small-ish company that is learning how to be a good big-ish company. There aren't a lot of politics to deal with, not a lot of red tape, and leadership seems open to change. That's not a bad place to work in my book.

Kontras

The company commitment to customer satisfaction makes it seem like saying 'no' isn't in our vocabulary.
