DON'T BOTHER IF YOU ARE OVER 30 YEARS OLD. I am struck dumbfounded. Somehow I was denied the position after rigorous preparation and sticking right to the directions.
My exact reason for not being hired: LACK OF MOTIVATIONAL INTEREST in the position.
LACK OF MOTIVATIONAL INTEREST after a complete online application.
LACK OF MOTIVATIONAL INTEREST after an online pre-assessment consisting of math and customer service question.
LACK OF MOTIVATIONAL INTEREST after an hour and a half phone interview.
LACK OF MOTIVATIONAL INTEREST after obtaining documents from old employers for a thorough background check.
LACK OF MOTIVATIONAL INTEREST after studying the STAR format of answering questions and practicing answers.
LACK OF MOTIVATIONAL INTEREST after studying and learning about Progressive's history and programs.
LACK OF MOTIVATIONAL INTEREST after a 2-hour interview with clear examples for every question.
(I wish I had some better explanation than LACK OF MOTIVATIONAL INTEREST, having spent so much time applying)
As I sat in the waiting room, I watched young 20-somethings who just looked like they rolled out of bed and put on a collared shirt dredge in and out of the rooms. I can only reason one of two things:
I was perceived as some kind of overqualified applicant, or I just didn't come off as someone that the hiring manager could control, either way, I did not see anyone other than these workers.
Unfortunately, I am sure that the advertised position will still be hiring for several months.

I have not completed the process yet but, first was an online assessment, then if you 'pass' you are moved on to a HireVue video interview which takes about 30 minutes with 8 questions.

Met the minimum requirements, then I got a link to the four part assessment. Once I passed the assessment, almost right away I got an invite to a HireVue interview. Finally, I got to interview with real people.

It was a fairly lengthly process which involved the application, an assessment, pre-recorded one way interview, and a live virtual interview. Asked behavior-based STAR questions. It was extensive with at least 10 questions.
