I found this interview I had with CROSSMARK Australia regarding a brand ambassador role very strange, and honestly kind of insulting.
I joined the Teams meeting and they joined soon after, I had to remind the person interviewing me what position this was for (already off to a bad start).
I was then asked what retail experience I had, I was a bit confused by the question, because this wasn't the first interview with Crossmark regarding this role and my resume mentioned several years of retail experience, so I had to pause for a moment in disbelief.
I then asked about potential growth after the promotion, as it was only running 5 weeks, and was offering limited hours, and I was more than willing to show my worth but was disappointed with the limited hours. I was told that they keep some people after promotions and that there will be 'great incentives, but I can't talk about them', I line I've heard before in sales jobs which usually lead to nothing.
After a bit of back and forth, I was told this was not an interview and I was already offered the role (which was news to me, as no letter of offer was sent to me), I turned the offer down due to the limited hours for a short program (12 hours for 5 weeks).
After the interview, I got a humorous email telling me I was not considered for the role, after the fact I was told I was given the role, but declined it.
The general vibe was off, I feel like the person interviewing me had no information on me other than my name.
I really hope the person was just having an off day and this isn't how they interview everyone for a similar role/s.
