I recently interviewed for an SAP Test Manager position at Tech Mahindra and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience. The interview was conducted by someone who appeared to be recently onboarded onto the project and lacked both the experience and professionalism expected at this level. The interviewer did not switch on their camera, failed to introduce themselves, and jumped directly into questions that were more suitable for a junior QA role—for example, asking exactly where to click in JIRA or HP ALM to execute a test case. Despite attempting to steer the conversation toward more strategic topics relevant to a Test Manager role, such as test planning, governance, and stakeholder management, the interviewer insisted that Test Strategy and Test Plan were the same document. When I calmly explained the distinction between the two, the call was abruptly disconnected without any closure or follow-up. Adding to the frustration, the interview was held on a Sunday with no HR representative present for escalation. By Monday, I was surprised to receive a negative outcome, without any detailed feedback or opportunity for clarification. This experience raises concerns about the interview process, especially for leadership roles where mutual respect and professional dialogue are critical. I hope Tech Mahindra re-evaluates the structure and standards of its interview process to better reflect the seniority of the roles being filled.
