Why as a software engineer, don't I have a laptop? A : If a developer has powerful machine with 31GB RAM 1TB HDD and 256GB SSD then why would one spend money on creepy laptops. And who told if(developerhasLpatop()) { " then only you are applicable to work .. lolz. "} . This is condition put on employee. Good work does not go with conditions. I do not want to name successful developers who still work on their desktops.

Firstly, there is no question of disrespect, on the contrary your review makes a lot of assumptions about us and is totally out of line. We care very deeply about the people we hire and the kind of team we are trying to build. It's 2016 and after 5 years in the industry if you feel a laptop is going to destroy your work life balance and you don't have a personal laptop! Then you are not really a cultural fit for us period. That is the reason you gave us. We could have very well called you onsite and you would have still not been hired because of your attitude, by having these additional parameters we are not only trying to save our time but the candidates time as well. You can probably work anywhere in any dev environment but we get hundreds of applications a day and tens of challenges a day and we can't keep bending our rules and processes for candidates. We need to have these in place because we are not a recruitment company and have other things to tend to as well. We try to be as responsive as we can and review things. It is really surprising you feel two week is a really long hiring cycle. You didn't make it further NOT because you don't have a laptop but because you don't have a laptop and the reasons you gave reflect on total lack of interest in taking responsibilities; your attitude. And boy aren't we glad that we didn't take this further, looking at this review. If you still feel how things are unfair, what do you think about you naming us publicly while being anonymous yourself! Your interview process was over on Friday Oct 7th 2016 and you right away went online to vent. Thanks for putting in the effort but just because things didn't work out there is no need to start a blame game. The more important question you should ask yourself, "Why as a software engineer, don't I have a laptop?". If you expect to be given the benefit of the doubt, then also please give it to others. Learn from every experience, like we just did. We are going to be asking people about the laptop upfront going forward.

I feel they didn't rejected you cause of laptop. But for your neutral behaviour. I'm not their employee, I'm proud Directi employee. I too don't have laptop at home, though I have company MacBook which I won't use for outside company work. I have PC with massive setup. i7 6700, 16gb DDR4 ram, and rx480 8gb.
