    Pros

    I often have said that it is only when times get tough that you truly understand the support you have around you. Well times recently got extremely tough for me to the point that I truly let myself down. Other organisations who do not have the caring Culture of HomeServe may have taken an extremely dim view of my situation but certain members of our Senior Leadership team including our CEO did the complete opposite. It was their support and desire to help me in my time of need that turned my situation round in both my work and home life. One particular message has stuck with me, which was when the CEO said “The more you need me the more I’ll give”.
    Am I surprised by this response, not at all. The Culture of this organisation is way above any I have worked in before. Two main Charters drive the company focus, our Customer Charter and our People Charter and unlike most organisations these are not just decorations on the walls but drive the way the organisation works. If you have the right ethics and morels there is no better organisation to work for.
    I don’t believe the people who helped me will ever fully understand the impression they have left and the difference they have made. This Company is a truly magnificent place to work hence the title “The HomeServe Family”.

    Pros

    I must admit I have never been so inspired by the way a company lives by its values and by how the culture totally reflects what the company praise itself for. Even in a back office role, the feeling of being able make a real tangible impact in how the company is shaped is a boost in motivation. The tone at the top is clearly spot on and is reflected all the way down to ALL employees. It is the first time I truly feel motivated by the leadership of the company where I work, their down to earth personalities and availability to every single employee to have an open conversation with them.
    The growth and development opportunities (mainly horizontally but also vertically) are visible every month which shows again how strong is the focus on employee's development. The support and team spirit is great making of it a great working environment. I cannot be happier with my move to HomeServe.

    The company is growing at a rapid pace (which is great) but it seems sometimes that the old legacy processes are hard to break. However, there has never been a better time to transform negatives into opportunities!

    Keep focusing on your people and they will take care of the company and its customers with the same focus. Keep the momentum going for making your teams world class teams but do it cautiously so no one feels expectations levels are climbing to quick.

    Pros

    A culture that really cares about employees who then in turn care about our customers. There is a really energy at Homeserve - what is unique vs other organisations I have worked for is that everybody wants to do the right thing and cares about making a difference. It's great that the CEO offers an opportunity to meet with every employee on an informal basis - as a manager I have seen seen a really positive outcome from one of my team following this and he has really been inspired to further his career which is great. Individuals can really make a difference due to this open-door policy.

    Great engagement activities from funfairs and carnivals to Christmas parties to pizza and cake.

    Strategy is clear and communicated well through cascades - the 2017 cascade was awesome at the NEC. I can't complain about work life balance - it's very busy at Homeserve and hard work is expected but it should be when the company is invested so much in it's people and I'm happy to put the effort in knowing this will be recognised and rewarded. I know I can always get to my children's Christmas plays, parents evenings without feeling guilty - Homeserve positively supports being a parent and a Homeserve team member.

    Is it perfect? No (is any company?) Is it a great place to work? Definitely.

    There is so much going on that it's sometimes hard to keep up with the changes and the impact they have on my teams but that's a growing business and would rather be part of this than a shrinking business.

    Pros

    The first focus is on the employees/people. Sort them out, and they'll sort out the customers and the others with an interest. Sounds simple - but how many others actually do it?
    Strategy is clear and shared with all.
    Ideas from all levels of the business are not just welcomed but are encouraged - and then often acted upon.
    Management listen - following a survey the maternity and paternity benefit was enhanced to market leading standard
    Flexible working location (role dependant)
    The new CEO will gladly have a half hour 1-2-1 with anyone... anyone. Unheard of if you ask me.
    Investment in tech changes will make a massive difference.
    Company is in growth mode - both UK and internationally. A good time to get in.
    Lots of employee engagement stuff and a decent Chrimbo Do.
    The vibe in the place is palpable, becomes the norm but those experiencing for the first time don't quite know what the hell is going on - in a good way!
    oh and a free policy is great - felt guilty using mine, but service was great.

    I had some cons, but on reflection they feel a bit petty. No one and no company are perfect, but if they're striving to be better then don't knock it, so I won't.
    Ok I will, having to reverse park is a pain in the a**e!

    Share the salary bands with people - let them know where they are at.

    Pros

    I'm about to come up to the four year anniversary of my joining HomeServe. I had always planned to write a review to update on my experience two years after my last review. The title of my last review was "together, we are building something really special" and that sentiment is as true to me now as it was two years ago and when I started with the company.

    HomeServe is an organic thing - a living, breathing, feeling, fallible, empowered and empowering, humble and proud organisation that is becoming something really wonderful.

    We are very good at what we do but we also know how and where we need to get better. Complacency, when we have made so much progress and have so much momentum, would be devastating and we know this.

    We talk about being a 'family' and that is a perfect way to describe who we are and how we interact with each other. And like any family, we don't always get it right for each other and because we are doing so much, that is inevitable. However, what is key is that we always TRY to get it right and we make decisions and choices for the right reasons.

    This is why I work at HomeServe.

    Some facilities need an upgrade - thing like better showers and bathroom facilities; the car park; a hybrid vehicle charge point.

    I have been at HomeServe for almost six months and from day one have felt completely at home. The people are amazing and there is a great senior management team in place. I always feel supported and appreciated, which often isn’t the case in larger organisations.

    Pros

    I've been at HomeServe for nearly a year and it's by far the best place I've worked. From the outstanding celebrations for People and families, like the halloween funfair or the summer fair, to the fact that Customers are truly put first. And everyone in the business has the opportunity to make an impact for Customers, HomeServe is willing to go above and beyond.

    The business is seriously interested in development and progression, I can see lots of opportunity and it seems everyone you speak to has a story about developing from some other part of the business.

    I'm able to work flexibly when I need to and HomeServe has always been great when I've needed to take time off for family reasons.

    I don't really enjoy the gravel car park! And I'm not keen on fish and chips, which the canteen serves every friday!

    Pros

    I've been at HomeServe for 3 years now and I can honestly say there's such a great culture here. It's so inspiring that anyone in the business can have their say and have the chance to really help our Customers. In my job role , I'm proud to say we are driven by the Charters, both the Customer Charter and the People Charter and we are always encouraged to do the right thing for the Customer.

    Systems I think could definitely do with improvement, however, this is something the company are working on.
