    Pros

    Great students , great benefits

    Kontras

Terrible pay, they call it "salary" just so you can't complain when they ask you to come in early or skip your lunch break. You actually put in how many hours you work a week.....that is not salary. You are paid only for the time you are actually teaching, which, as anyone who has taught before knows, is about half the work you do. I work about 40 to 50 hours a week and am paid for 25....pretty insulting and depressing. This is why they have a high turnover

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei ELS Educational Services gearbeitet (Über 8 Jahre)

    Pros

Benefits are OK for a language school

    Kontras

Low pay, bad management, little growth potential

    Rat an das Management

You need younger, more progressive academic directors with vision; you need to pay A LOT better.

Ich habe in Teilzeit bei ELS Educational Services gearbeitet

    Pros

Interesting to meet students from everywhere and learn from them...

    Kontras

You only get paid for actual in-classroom-teaching hours, and that hourly rate isn't great. Benefits depend on hours; if you don't work enough, you don't get benefits, and hours are not up to you but depend on enrollment which seems to keep dropping.

    Rat an das Management

Reduce top management and reward teachers better.

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei ELS Educational Services gearbeitet (mehr als ein Jahr)

    Pros

If you meet their requirements, it's a pretty good starting point to a career in English education.

    Kontras

Lessons are not standardized, so you'll have to make your own.

    Rat an das Management

Teachers know best about their classrooms. Guidance is welcome, but nobody knows what the students can handle better than their teachers.

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei ELS Educational Services gearbeitet

    Pros

Excellent benefits and support for new employees.

    Kontras

Limited salary increases. Over time, the salaries don't remain competitive.

    Rat an das Management

People in the field generate all of the value to your clients, the students. Take care of them better.

    Pros

Flexible hours, helpful colleagues, great salary, incredible seniors

    Kontras

Rigid management, No frequent open table discussions

    Rat an das Management

Avoid menial tasks such as submitting 3 different files for attendance and provide for freedom of speech when it comes to development ideas.

Ich arbeite in Teilzeit bei ELS Educational Services

    Pros

Relatively easy job in terms of the amount of work. You simply proctor tests and check in examiners.

    Kontras

Not much room for growth money wise.

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei ELS Educational Services gearbeitet (Über 3 Jahre)

    Pros

    * I really enjoyed my time working with the people in the company; some were really great individuals who cared. Most of my colleagues were strong professionals who were able to cope with a high-pressure environment, and upper-management were generally supportive and amiable
    * Above-average benefits, including health and dental
    * In the beginning, there were many professional development opportunities
    * Exposure to wonderful students from around the world
    * Overall, I would say ELS was a good place to learn about the IEP industry

    Kontras

    * Corporate leadership implemented some questionable growth strategies which were too optimistic and aggressive considering the general environment of the IEP industry
    * The top-down structure of the organization, particularly in terms of marketing, handcuffed individual centers from exploring creative recruitment strategies
    * The pay for staff at the centers was not in-line with similar organizations in individual markets
    * PHQ (headquarters) rarely communicated with most center staff; to many center personnel, it was a mysterious entity that occasionally sent directives via center administration

    Rat an das Management

Opaque/non-existent P&L information for individual centers made it difficult to assess center health; consider providing full access to center P&L reports. Allow each center to budget for and drive social media and center-specific marketing strategies. Be more realistic in terms of pay scale, particularly as pertains to higher COL in large markets, for all staff. Find a way to "re-implement" professional development opportunities for staff (NAFSA, EnglishUSA, TESOL, etc.).
The future of the IEP industry is uncertain in the near-term, with challenges aplenty. ELS could still be in a strong position to thrive if it can diversify its programs; find a way to keep its strongest personnel; build stronger connections between PHQ and staff at its centers (e.g. re-implement district meetings and create opportunities for all staff to meet PHQ personnel); and focus its efforts on students over profits.

Ich habe in Teilzeit bei ELS Educational Services gearbeitet (mehr als ein Jahr)

    Pros

It was great working with the diverse group of students. The fellow teachers are also very nice and willing to help.

    Kontras

A lot of work outside the classroom, especially for Reading and Writing classes. Work hours can vary from month to month depending on the number of students and your ranking as a teacher. If you don't have enough hours two months you can lose your benefits.

    Rat an das Management

Take better care of the teachers.
