The company is organised in functional silos which mean inter-departmental co-operation is limited. Politics are rife. Stratus is focused on delivering high availability servers, and as other vendors produce increasingly reliable hardware, the market for Stratus products is diminishing and it is increasingly difficult to justify the significant price difference for the hardware, and, especially, the service element. The annual maintenance is typically 30% of the server list price.
