Pros

I really enjoyed my 2 1/2 years at SLI. The work environment was generally very balanced - people took their work seriously, but always took the time for a bit of fun. Management was quite supportive of employees' commitments outside of work, so overall there was a strong focus on work-life balance. I enjoyed having opportunities to collaborate with other team members to deliver projects. I was encouraged to explore areas that interested me, which kept me excited and challenged. The energy in the office was for the most part really positive and upbeat, which made coming to work each day more enjoyable.

Kontras

The transition to becoming a publicly listed company has been interesting. Things have had to become a bit more corporate - more policies, less financial transparency with employees, to name a few. So the company has lost a lot of its start-up feel.

Pros

-Flexible, truly invested in their employees well being, interesting product with lots of potential. -Global company with very distinct cultures in each location. -They have moved fast and made great strides. -Amazing training program (both professional and personal growth) -Benefits are pretty good. -Most of the top Leadership is approachable and interactive -Great starting place for a recent college graduate. -Standing desks

Kontras

Compensation - definitely on the lower end of Silicone Valley, but then they are in Downtown San Jose. C & VP Leadership - poor communication, mixed messages, an overall avoidance for stepping up and doing the hard things, till its too late. Politics: For the size of company, there are a lot of politics and complicated processes, and a general blame game when things go wrong. Promotion and career growth can be pretty limited.
