Pros

Hybrid working and soft expectation for office time which is actually helpful given the culture and concerns that are below. As a tech business, the funding secured to date enables high salary offers.

Kontras

Inexperienced and 'green' senior management who are (in the most part) devoid of interpersonal skills. Leadership favouritism is exhibited towards certain employees who demonstrate loyalty and 'follow' the beat of the drum. This makes it difficult for innovation in general or for new joiners to observe and challenge ways of working or approaches. This also places weight to a certain toxic culture. Consistent shaming and bullying behaviours exhibited by Founder and CEO.

Hello, Thank you for leaving a review. As the new Chief People Officer at Runa, I am in the process of putting together our people strategy and will share this with the company in the weeks to come. Culture, growth and leadership will be a key part of the agenda. We’ll look to enable and support all leaders in the company to develop and inspire their teams so that together we can take the company to the next level. This stage of growth is typically challenging for many start ups and creating a culture where everyone is empowered to innovate, to challenge and to proactively seek ways to grow ourselves and the company is critical to our success. In our most recent engagement survey 81% of employees agreed that innovation is encouraged as part of our day to day. We haven’t got it all figured out and with that come many opportunities for us to work on. I have looked into your comments around shaming and bullying behaviours and I disagree with you that this is what is happening. I would however be very keen to discuss with you in confidence what has made you feel this way and I am hopeful that with your feedback we can address things and make sure that you feel Runa is a safe, inspiring and innovative place to work. We have had some critical open leadership positions this year which have resulted in a lean leadership team that have been spread across various areas of the company. I believe this is what in some areas has caused a breakdown of comms and support this year. Lenneke Chief People Officer

Hello, Thanks for your review. We’re passionate about having trust in our employees and giving them the ownership and autonomy to do their best work and continue to invest in our leadership and managers. As a high growth scale up we do often need to pivot, which means adapting to changing situations which can affect the direction at times. We are building our 2024 company objectives in line with the company strategy and will be working with each of the teams on how they can contribute, which in turn will provide a clear direction. In our Q3 engagement survey, 89% of people agreed that they know how their work contributes to the goals of Runa, but I would love to organise some time with you to find out how we can improve in your experience.
