Pros
The majority of the staff are nice and there is good camaraderie amongst everyone below management level. For young people it's a good example of a toxic workplace, so everywhere you work after will seem great. You do learn a lot pretty quickly.
Kontras
This is the most toxic place I've ever worked. With the most toxic, incompetent management I've ever experienced. Staff turnover is really high and it's obvious why. All issues stem from senior management. The stories are endless and most sound like they should be made up, but they are not. When you start you very quickly realise that everyone below management level hate the place, and then shortly after that you realise why. The owner routinely stands in the middle of the office spouting his ridiculous and offensive opinions and forcing everyone to listen. Staff are shouted at, belittled and bullied for things as small as dropping a drop (literally a droplet) of water on the office carpet. Management will go desk to desk checking who has water and publicly humiliate whoever they suspect. There are also aggressive, confrontational emails regularly sent to everyone in the office. There is a rule that nobody is allowed to make tea or coffee between 9-10:30am (except for the directors, obviously!). Meetings are often scheduled at 9am to force people in early. Staff are expected to work long hours with no extra pay, or even a thank you. The CAD team regularly finishes at 7-8pm and are not allowed to leave until their job list is finished. Installers are treated horrendously, spoken to like children and regularly shouted at. Owner openly calls them "the morons" and tries to create a "them and us" divide between office staff and the installers. Installers are also regularly let go with no explanation. Deadlines are arbitrary and you'll be expected to drop everything when management has a 'great idea' (spoiler - they are never great ideas!). It's micromanagement but from people who don't actually know much, which means things inevitably go wrong, which then becomes your fault. You get half an hour unpaid lunch break and you'll probably have to sit in your car or at your desk because the downstairs kitchen is too small and staff are not allowed to use the microwave upstairs. There's no HR department and the one HR person they ever had was let go after telling management that they were the problem. The office has CCTV everywhere, for "productivity monitoring". Some people get by by keeping their head down, but most aren't so lucky. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for who they pick on, but once your "cards are marked" they will make your life hell until you leave, or just sack you. Don't be fooled, because during the interview process they come across as nice, but they are not! Save yourself the stress and work anywhere else! Also, parking isn't great on the industrial estate.
