Pros

I worked for three months at Pitchfork, and although I worked for a very short span, I enjoyed my time working with some of the nicest people. Although I am not from the field of Public Relations, I gained much learning through that span.

Kontras

As politics is pretty common in every company, so did Pitchfork. Maybe some can try to be kind towards the rest and not try to be over the top on the rest. Since everyone is learning about the field they’re in, it’s important one stays kind.

Pros

The founders are Vets of the PR industry

Kontras

If you’ve just passed high school and feel nostalgic about those days, this might be the perfect place for you, because the work culture here mirrors a school environment surprisingly well. Many of the activities conducted here feel like they are driven by someone trying to relive experiences they may have missed earlier in life. Adding to the experience, they also have a “school principal” in the form of HR leadership. The HR team ensures that employees don’t forget that feeling, whether it’s being watched while taking a break, having lunch or simply catching up with colleagues, even during lunch hours or when workload allows it. Helping colleagues is also something that seems to be frowned upon, much like the strange rules you’d expect in a school setting, where collaboration somehow becomes a problem, rather than a professional workplace. For anyone seeking meaningful professional growth, this may not be the ideal place. However, if you’re looking for an environment filled with restrictions, monitoring, and unnecessary control, you’ll likely feel right at home. The clients here often feel like “family,” largely because many seem to come through personal relationships with the founder. Beyond that, attracting new clients appears to be a challenge, raising questions about the organization’s ability to bring in fresh business. So if the goal is to return to a school-like environment rather than build a career, this might be the place for you. And just to clarify, this is not praise. It’s feedback. Though given how things were perceived here, it might still be interpreted as a win.
