Kontras
Jetty faces several challenges related to leadership and strategy. The CEO is inexperienced and unskilled in areas of management, business strategy, insurance fundamentals, and general EQ. He tends to focus on short-term goals, which often leads to insufficient consideration of long-term impact to senior leaders, individual contributors, and overall company culture and morale. His management style swings from absent/distracted to strong micromanagement. This management style decreases the effectiveness of leaders at the company and has driven high churn at all levels. The company has made multiple product and strategic missteps. By expanding beyond its core competency of security deposit replacements, they have gone one-inch deep on too many product lines that were fundamentally different businesses. They've since pulled back to just two products, but they wasted valuable time and resources due to a lack of focus. They struggle with adverse selection in their products and have a poor grasp on insurance unit economics. The culture is not strongly customer-centric, and they mainly focus on meeting the needs of multifamily owners and property managers, rather than renters. This approach has raised ethical concerns for some employees and contributed to my decision to leave the company. If you are considering a position with Jetty, I'd suggest you reconsider. Without a change in leadership, I cannot recommend the company.
