Pros
As what others have said - started off being a very rewarding role, making a difference and helping people. The teams and colleagues are a wonderful bunch of people who make going to work everyday a bit more pleasant.
Kontras
This list gets bigger and bigger: Lack of understanding from the SMT on what workloads and impact of this is. Most of the SMT do not even bother going in to Ops and sit in Head Office slating Ops and wanting to micromanage the whole company. There is a lack of willingness to change and show inflexibility,. it's become one of those companies that have meetings about meetings about meetings and there is no visibility on what is to be done. People here hate taking ownership and responsibility and instead much rather point the finger of blame at others rather than doing any work,. The Directors and SMT all receive bonuses - yet staff have not had a pay rise for over 3 years. All the company are bothered about now are the budgets and how much extra the CEO, COO, CFO and their boys club will get in their wages. Workloads are ridiculous and the expectation is other people will just pick up the work. If you complain about workload, your own efficiency is brought in to question and the ability to manage your own time. The company spent loads doing a listening exercise after being slated on Glassdoor and having dropped out of the Times 100 - a couple of weeks later they announced mass redundancies across most of the business (probably because the poor CEO isn't making enough in his bonus and needs to bulk this up!). Unrealistic targets and expectations, stripping away anything that helps Advisors actually do the job and no investment in actually supporting people in to work. Using the same old job search methods from 10+ years ago. The company has not moved with the times, is out of touch and out dated. No real training opportunities or development of staff - that doesn't just mean progression, but also opportunities to get better at what staff actually do. Everything centres on doing an annual PDR which is a huge waste of time - time consuming and filling in forms for the sake of filling in forms - if you jump through all these hoops, you may be able to do a Level 3 in Business Admin which will be arranged by Ingeus Skills and so effectively Ingeus makes money from this - LOL! Managers (and Directors) are aggressive and bullies. they actually stand in front of their teams and moan about not getting their 'Gold Rewards' because something their team may have done - sorry - is the £50/60K/70K you earn not enough for you?!
