Pros

WFH. Standard benefits. Some of the employees that survived layoffs are competent at their jobs.

Kontras

Everything that made Hagerty great in the past is long gone in the review mirror. CEO is a greedy money hungry narcissist who sold his soul to go public. Benefits are constantly stripped from employees while metrics demand skyrockets. Delusional goals constantly soar making them unattainable to hit without severely sacrificing quality and member experience. Sr leadership are nothing but out of touch yes men to the CEO who is now off his rocker and completely unglued. During live Q&A with team members he loses all composure and flies off the handle being defensive and making excuses while talking in circles and answering nothing. He’s the last one left at the company from the original family and therefore has nobody to keep him in line or grounded. The result is a company running itself into the ground at lightning speed. The captain of this ship is cranking the wheel to purposefully crash us into the iceberg. The majority of employees in the MSC are completely incapable of doing their jobs. Somehow unskilled and unqualified employees continue to get hired and promoted. Mid level leadership of the MSC (Assistant Managers, Managers, etc.) are mostly laughable at best, with the exception of a few hidden gems that are quickly forced to play along and drink the koolaid to avoid making waves. Managers single out and target employees they decide they don’t like and prevent them from promoting elsewhere or using intimidation tactics to force them to conform to acting like brainwashed Hagerty cheerleaders. Management also constantly asks for feedback but unless it’s all positive they don’t react well. The company has turned into the equivalent of the girl at the party who had way too much to drink but dropped her phone in the toilet so she can’t get an Uber to take her home. If you’re looking to work here, don’t bother unless you love being constantly blindsided and increasingly micromanaged. You can get a job somewhere else with better pay and more competent leadership. If you currently work here and just love to look at your fellow coworkers rants on Glassdoor so you don’t feel so alone, I see you, we got this. Things definitely won’t get better but at least we have stocks that continuously lose their value and are probably going to be worth pennies once they’re vested and you cash them out. ;)

Pros

Prior to going public, Hagerty had a family-oriented culture. It welcomed employee engagement and feedback with Open Door Surveys. Leadership was focused on providing the Best Customer Service Experience with first-call resolution. Call handling was well balanced and goals were achievable. It was a very productive and fun work environment.

Kontras

In transitioning to going Public, Hagerty changed its culture from fostering positive employee engagement over to profit-focused and aggressive micromanagement. Multiple layoffs. Employee feedback and Open Door Surveys were eliminated. The promises of AIP and bonuses were an illusion as leadership constantly moved the goal post that prevented goal achievement. No payouts for employees meant more profits for Hagerty. High-pressure environment with non-stop calls. Complex customer calls count against you. Rushing through calls in order to meet goal requirements often meant customers did not get the service and support they needed.
