Pros
I love what I do, and getting paid to do is awesome. As a single mom flexibility in my schedule and being able to be there for my kids is Priority One. That's why I love doing contract work from home. But it can be a double-edges sword because work is not always easy to find. DrupalConnect keeps me busy! I love being able to concentrate on working instead of having to pound the pavement looking for work. And having the flexibility to work around my kids' hectic schedules is perfect for me. The team is made up of awesome people who are available to step in when you need help, share an idea, give some support or to jam with on Turntable.fm. The management treats me like an adult, letting me work according to a style that suits me best. They ask me what is feasible... I deliver... all is well. The work I get fits with my skill set and my fellow teammates are always helpful and eager to share new info, tricks, tips and other coding goodies. Also, we get to interact directly with the project client. This helps to avoid miscommunication. I really appreciate how John lets the doers do. He has PMs and contractors and lets them handle things that need to get done. He'll step in as needed, but no micromanaging. Again... treating us like adults.
Kontras
No major downsides. Some areas that could use attention are standardizing some project processes so we know what to expect each time.
