Pros
I feel like the leaders really do care about the company. I've worked at places where they discourage you from speaking up, don't offer explanations, and you're treated like a number. I think it's awesome that we have full benefits given that it's a small black-owned business. I also love that I've developed my skillset here. I plan on being here for at least a few more years. The leadership also doesn't tolerate bad attitudes, so I've seen a few people leave for that. That's important to me because I don't want to work with nasty people. I am also paid well, which is a huge plus since Chicago isn't cheap.
Kontras
As it's a small company, things do change often and that can be annoying but I understand why that happens. I have to be flexible in my job, learning new things and taking on more sometimes. Hopefully, with growth, things will become more simple over time and won't change as much. I also wish they had a bit more money for fringe benefits like childcare and weekly free lunches. That would be nice. I wish I had more than a couple of weeks vacation as well.
