Pros

Creative flexibility, potential for great tips, high energy co-workers, meeting new people

Kontras

I have experienced some issues with pay. They do not seem to always pay you correctly unless you keep an eye on your check stub. Milage pay may be shorted or pushed to the way side if you do not keep tabs on the management team about this. They gladly paid me the amount owed after having to explain the situation over the phone, but this type of crap is a waste of time and deserves to be recognized.

Pros

You get to DJ weddings

Kontras

You do not receive any notice when you get assigned to an event /wedding. You have to keep checking the website. You are not treated with dignity and respect. You're called darlin' by management. They tell you they will do something, and then flat out not do it, and therefore lie to you. Why lie and say you'll do something but not do it? Its happened multiple times about a variety of things. You are used at CW+E; you are a cog in their money-making machine. The amount they pay you is minuscule compared to the price the couple gets charged. You get paid $20 in total for the 2.5 to 3 hours it will take you for setup, soundcheck, and break down. If it's "in town," you don't get paid for mileage. You only get paid $0.48/mile if it's about 45-60 minutes or more away from the storage unit. You don't get paid for the time you have to drive from your residence to the storage unit. You never get paid for your time besides the hours booked by the client (minimum of 5 hours per event to book) (and just the pathetic $20 for setup and breakdown, and mileage if the event is at least roughly 45 minutes away). But what makes me the most upset is the disrespect for how they will schedule you as if you don't have any other jobs or anything else going on in your life. I work full-time, and DJ on the side. My full-time job requires me to wake up at 5 am and work at 6 am. They will schedule me for an event that ends at 11 pm, and then roughly 45 minutes to break down and put everything into my car. And the venue is an hour and 11 minutes away. And then you have to put all the equipment into the storage unit. And then you have to drive from the storage unit to your apartment. And then you still have to take care of your cat and get ready for bed. 1:30, 1:45am bedtime at the earliest best case scenario. But if I am used to waking up Monday through Friday for work at 5 AM(!), how much sense does that make? I have to fall asleep around 9pm for my full time job. At the event I'm going to be dead tired and miserable, not able to give my best effort, have a headache, maybe have something happen while driving the hour+, maybe hurt myself with or damage the heavy equipment, etc.
