Pros

There is no Pros for this company

Kontras

The product being sold is essentially worthless, considering ChatGPT can perform its functions for free. The company's SVP leadership often says "Fake it till you make it", misleading clients by promising features and functionalities they don't yet possess, then pressuring the team into developing them without any clear direction. This leads to immense stress, causing many colleagues to break down. Sales leaders make extravagant promises to clients, leaving teams scrambling to deliver under unrealistic expectations set by Product leadership. Gender diversity in leadership is severely lacking, with the few women in leadership roles and they also lack the requisite skills. Senior managers lack significant experience, and product leaders have never successfully launched a product before BenchSci. Furthermore, the science leadership demonstrates a dearth of practical knowledge in drug discovery, with many of the so-called leaders working here barely out of graduate school. No one here has any drug discovery understanding or experience. The company's modus operandi often employs flashy presentations to obscure the real capabilities when presenting. The members of the C-suite reinforce each other's egos, enabling manipulative behavior to flourish. The organizational culture perpetuates male dominance, effectively stifling any chance for female leadership to emerge. All VP-level leaders seem solely focused on expanding their own domains and back stabbing each other. Transparency regarding the company's financial status is notably absent, leaving employees in the dark regarding the organization's stability and future prospects. The absence of a clear direction or career advancement roadmap leaves employees stranded in their professional trajectories. Advancement within the company often hinges on personal connections with senior management rather than merit, resulting in individuals being hired for roles they are ill-equipped for, solely based on favoritism. Individuals who exhibit rude and arrogant behavior are being promoted under the guise of promoting diversity, simply because they are perceived as willing to speak up.

Pros

The "ends" do NOT justify the "means" at BenchSci. Collegiality and Teamwork trump short-term results. BenchSci technology is a paradigm shift in uncovering reagents; AI/ML scans the literature to present the essence of a publication for your review (and there's more to come).

Kontras

BenchSci is 100% remote. My colleagues are so interesting that I would like to see more of them in person.

Pros

Remote work. Went to the office twice

Kontras

- leadership sucks here. Not one leader would be at a leadership role in another company of decent reputation - the surviving leaders here are good at politics or they are the oldest ones remaining who are friends with the CEO. They have their own agenda and try to just play the game to get their seat at the table. They would not succeed anywhere else in the real world - there is zero pay parity. Some get such high pays and others are just blind to it. When employees talk, that is when there is a realization of the gap in pay. -they care only about employees who suck up to them and stroke their ego - their product is not the best in the business and they promote it to be something of a unicorn - company bleeds out people who are talented and now they are desperate as no one new wants to join the company - they do nothing to maintain the culture of the company - it’s the most toxic out there
