Note that this may not apply to all stores. Just my personal experience with one store and what I took away from the experience. - managers are driven by profit - managers don't have a regard for staffs personal life and availability, it is expected for you to be available even though you say that you are not - it is is expected that you do more hours than what you are contracted to do because Asda doesn't want to give full time contracts. Doesn't benefit them and having full time staff makes, them loose money (due to more rights to those staff) so part time workers tend to be pressured to do overtime. - when staff whom were contracted to do nearly full time left, a replacement would not be hired. For example we had a full time staff leave and they were still not replaced even after a year has passed causing the current staff to substitute in to cover their shift. At some point other staff left and I ended up doing a job which would need 2 and half number of staff to complete. If you don't complete it you are viewed as lazy or not motivated. The blame is placed on staff even though everyone is requesting for more staff to be hired. I've worked for other retailers for many years and this one gave me a lot of anxiety and stress.
